LIVING FOR THE LORD
David prayed in Psalm 39:4-6: "LORD, make me to know mine end, and the measure of my days, what it is; that I may know how frail I am. Behold, thou hast made my days as an handbreadth; and mine age is as nothing before thee: verily every man at his best state is altogether vanity. Selah.
Surely every man walketh in a vain shew: surely they are disquieted in vain: he heapeth up riches, and knoweth not who shall gather them."
A wise person lives a life that is prepared to meet the Lord. He/she knows that death can occur at any moment. The wise know they have an appointment with death.
The person of wisdom who has trusted Jesus as his Savior can live out his days with confidence in God. A person who is prepared for life can say, "For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain." (Philippians 1:21)
We are to live out our days worshipping the Lord until He comes for us. Once we are in heaven, we will worship the Lord throughout all eternity.
Ebenezer Baptist Church sponsors the food bags (Back Pack Program) once a month for the students who need weekend food from Ferrum Elementary School. Our church takes care of one week a month for nine months during the 2017/2018 school year. We praise the Lord for allowing us the privilege to help with this project. We are thankful for the youth and adults who do the hard work involved in this project.
A PURPOSEFUL LIFE.
Charles Stanley: "Wisdom is the capacity to see things from God's perspective and respond according to scriptural principles."
Solomon wrote, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding." (Proverbs 4:7)
We cannot live a purposeful life that is successful without the wisdom of God. The wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. When we do God's will with the wisdom He provides, we can live a life of purpose for His glory and our good.
Paul wrote in Ephesians 5:15-17: "See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise, Redeeming the time, because the days are evil. Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is."
