"By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name." (Hebrews 13:15) David said, "Accept, I beseech thee, the freewill offerings of my mouth, O LORD." (Psalm 119:108) In Psalms 34:1 he said, “I will bless the Lord at all times. His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”
Thanksgiving is more than just getting together with family and friends. Thanksgiving is the expressing of worship to God. It is more than just naming a few of our blessings. It is coming before the Kings of Kings and humbly thanking Him for who He is. We give to Him the sacrifices of thanksgiving because He first gave those blessings to us.
The men who attended the Prayer Advance on January 30 through February 1 were blessed by the Lord. They heard some great preaching and the Lord used it in their lives. They came back rejoicing and sharing with those of us who didn't attend. Their testimonies were a blessing to my heart. I wasn't able to go this year, but I am looking forward to attending next year, if the Lord allows me to go.
On Saturday February 8, 2014, the men had a special day at the church. Breakfast was provided by the church and some of the men prepared the meal. It was a delicious breakfast. After the meal, we had a time of testimonies and praises. Our Bible study was from John 15:10-14 entitled: "What A Friend We Have In Jesus." Nice prizes were award to those who won the gift.
The men shared during the 11:00 a.m.. and 6:00 p.m.. services on Sunday February 8. Those who attended the Prayer Advance shared their experiences. Others gave their testimonies about the things the Lord has been doing in their lives. At the conclusion of the evening service, we enjoyed a covered dish supper prepared by the men of the church. They fixed a delicious meal.
I loaded a few pictures of our Men's and Boy's Day and some of the men sharing their testimonies.
I am thankful for praying men and those who are ministering to the needs of other people. May the Lord raise up an army of men who follow no one but Christ.
The Lord says that the giving of thanks is very significant. It is His will for us to give thanks. "In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
The giving of thanks blesses God, encourages the believer, and is a witness to the lost.
Thankfulness reminds us that God is sovereign and in control. Thankfulness helps us to stay focused on the Lord and not to be distracted by our circumstances. Thankfulness reminds us that we belong to our Creator and Redeemer. Thankfulness will cause us to review our spiritual and material blessings.
